Summer Family Holiday to Stowe, VT
Growing up in upstate New York I’ve always been fond of the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont as my parents always took me there when I was little, summer or winter, rain or shine!
We left the city life and hustle and bustle of SF behind and took to the mountains in Stowe, Vermont where we stayed at the gorgeous Stowe Mountain Lodge. It was super handy as our little mini condo came with a kitchen with a dishwasher haha (ideal when you are travelling with two toddlers!)
It had a huge pool out front with rock formations and flumes which the kids loved playing in, and we brought along a Popsicle float with us that was a huge hit with others who saw us in the pool. Rain or shine, the kids were loving the pool, not only improving their swimming skills but also playing with Mom & Dad.
You could catch the gondola from right outside our bedroom right to the top of the mountain and you can only imagine how much of a hit this was with Tudor who is obsessed with machinery, he wanted to go on it everyday!
We did a couple small hikes with the kids at the top and it was fun exploring all the rocks, trees and mushrooms.
One day we treated ourselves to a sitter and Nic and I hiked down from the top of the mountain. It was absolutely gorgeous, the rain had just stopped and everything smelled awesome. The sort of smell you want to bottle up in to a candle!
Another day we got a sitter again and hiked near the Notch Road up Smuggler’s Notch State Park along the Sterling Pond Trail. So many waterfalls and running streams from the rain, it was beautiful!
The biggest treat of the trip, where all these amazing photos are from, was going to Shelburne Farm. It’s super family friendly and they meet you with a tractor ride to bring you out to the Farm! As you can imagine this totally made the whole trip for the kids!
You can help out milking the cows and see how cheese is made. As you can see, Aura and Tudor were feeding a month-old calf - TOTAL cuteness overload!
It’s a totally hands-on farm and they get you involved with the daily farm tasks like herding the goats, milking the cows etc. Pretty solid business model ;)
Shop the look
We bought home some amazing cheeses, homemade jams and honey. The local stores around Stowe are so cute. Everything is vintage and quaint, and they sell not only homemade produce but also home decor items like the cutest baskets.
