Water…
It has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. From taking swim lessons, Summers at the local town pool to swimming Division 1 in college for UMASS. I spent my college Summers lifeguarding on Cape Cod, MA protecting others from the dangers of the ocean. It is there I learned to surf and lived briefly in HI, where I gained immense respect for the ocean and her powers. After college, I competed in rough water ocean swims and then triathlons. Over the years, I have taught swim lessons to children and adults. I spent many a day swimming on the open water be it the pool, pond, bay or ocean. Today, I swim on a masters team, North Bay Aquatics, three times a week. It is my therapy and what grounds me. Being in the water clears my mind and truly makes me a better person.
I have always been passionate about water safety, but after having children it has become even more important. Having a baby and toddler, while living directly on the water, has made water safety a part of our daily routine.
Did you know each year the third Saturday in May is National Learn to Swim Day? This year it will be celebrated on May 19th.
SwimWays, an industry leader in helping children learn to swim and promoting water safety founded this day in 2012. Like myself, they are dedicated to educating parents and children about water safety. Most importantly, the benefits of learning how to swim!
Last week, we took Aura out in her new Baby Spring Float Sun Canopy. Did you know this float made for babies 9-24 months is best selling swim float in the U.S.? It consistently receives 4 & 5 star ratings by consumers for years.
We tried it out in the pool. It was so easy to carry as it folds down to fit in a nice zipped circle that folds flat, making it perfect to throw in your Summer bag when you head to the pool. You simply unzip, unfold, blow up the two air chambers, attach the removable canopy and hit the water!
Aura loved that she could float and move around by herself. She is already in swim lessons and this gives her more confidence to be independent in the water!
Some key features that put this float ahead of the competition:
The large circumference and patented inner spring around the outside edge offer added stability.
The fabric-covered inflation and a soft mesh seat for durability and comfort is baby friendly.
The safety valves and dual air chambers enhance security for all of us.
The adjustable and removable canopy with 50+ UPF sun protection makes this mama happy.
Mesh play space for toys and splashing is a plus.
Finally, it folds flat into three compact circles for portability and storage as you can see in my photos and even has a carry bag.
