A Romanian Baptism for Aura Azaleea

It was a Romanian Baptism for our sweet Aura Azaleea. We had the baptism at the same church we had Tudor's at. It was held at Biserica Buna Vestire, an Orthodox church in the historic and incredibly old town of Brasov, Romania. Brasov is located about 3 hours north of Bucharest via a lovely car drive through the country and up to the mountain town.

A note for the history buff (had to translate to English the best I could):  Constructed in 1934, by the parade of Mihai Hodârnau and Ioan Florea and with the concurrence of the architect Octavian Smighelschi (the son of the famous painter of the cathedral in Sibiu), the construction of this church begins in pure Byzantine style. Execution of the plan was entrusted to Brazilian engineer Wildemann engineer, built in brick with granite stone. The vault is built of brick and covered with sheet metal. At only three years, the church is finished, being sanctified by Metropolitan Dr. Alex. Nicolaesciu in 1937.

We got 2' of snow in the week we were there and the average daily temperature was close to zero, no seriously it was absolutely freezing. Just to take this quick photo outside we froze. The church was so chilly too, but they made sure the water was nice and warm for Aura. Her little tulle dress and faux fur jacket are from Romania, but I put a link to something close. Nicolae's sister Monica performed the service for Aura and was all in Romanian so I did not understand any of it!

We were the only ones there as not many people baptize when it's zero out. It was such a blessing to have both of my children baptized in such a special place. I hope you enjoy the photos and if you have any question on planning a trip to Brasov, let me know. Psst, if you come during the Summer it is much more pleasant!

Love, Lynn
