Family Lifestyle, A Bi-Coastal Dilemma
A bi-coastal dilemma. What coast is best? It was an amazing trip back East! Visiting friends and family in my favorite places. I have to admit I am feeling a little blue right now being in our CA home. As you know, we live bi-coatsal and up until 6 months ago, mostly in Boston. SIGH. Coming back West this time, has been hard as I know we will be spending more time in CA.
I am from upstate NY so my heart is back East. However, I love it here, the sun the warm weather and no winters. I do miss the small townness (is that even a word) of Boston and the ability to travel to so many different places. You can day trip to NH / VT / RI / NY / CT / ME and also make a weekend out of it so easily. Everything just seems a bit slower even though we live in the South End, a suburb of Boston proper. As for family life, I love the ability to throw the kids in a stroller and roll out the door to one of the many local parks. The Summer back East is all about winter parks becoming sprinkler parks in the heat. It is also easier to meet new mama friends as we all congregate out of our brownstones to the parks.
Everything certainly is bigger out here in CA, the mountains especially. Tahoe towers over the mountains I grew up skiing as a child. Killington, Sugarbush, and good ole Jimmeny Peak close to my house. Alot of East coast mountains are accessible from Boston via a day trip, which is nice. Even, the National parks in CA are on a whole other level that our quaint parks back East.
In the end, it is just where our hearts will end up. We love both coasts, but Tudor is staring school now and we will have to decide by the time he reaches first grade, so we have a few more years thankfully. My husband is from Romania and his whole family is there, so that doesn't help our choice. My parents are from Iowa and Pennsylvania, so that doesn't help either. Alas, it is truly where we feel in our hearts is home. I have met wonderful mama friends on both coasts and through Instagram all over the world!
I am so excited to be posting about our trip to Stowe, VT, Upstate NY and Falmouth, Cape Cod MA so you can be in the local know of the best places. I'll give you insider tips on where and what to see that you won't find anywhere else, like my favorite lobster places and farms.
Yours in Bi-Coastal living, Lynn
