Aura's Newborn Photoshoot
These photos are SO special to me. I enlarged this one to 24” x 30” for above her crib, it makes me so happy inside just to look at every day.
I was unable to do a shoot with Tudor as he had weight gain issues as he was 9lb 11oz and lost 18% of his body weight when we left the hospital 5 days after the C-section. I was nursing up to 30min per side, then pumping and supplementing that milk and giving to him AND THEN giving him formula as well. I look back and think how any normal person would have quit, I honestly did not sleep at all for over a month. So you can see why this was so special to me.
Aura was another big baby, weighing in at 9lb 2oz a week early with the scheduled C-section and only lost 12% of her weight upon departure from hospital. She, on the other hand, is a great nurser and gained her weight back quickly! Note: when your baby loses over 12% at this hospital at least, they want you to supplement with formula, so she was given formula for 3 days there and I only continued a few more days at home.
It was very important to me to have Tudor in the photoshoot as well. We did it at 17 days old so she was still rather sleepy. I just adore theses photos of me with them. The one with Tudor and Aura melts my heart, he is such a caring big brother and knows instinctively to be so gentle and kind.
At the time, my sweet husband did not want to be involved with the shoot as he thought it should be just me, but afterwards when he saw how amazing the photos were, he was so bummed he did not come. I don’t blame him, as at the time, it was crazy at our place with his mom, her from Romania that did not speak any English, and us trying to balance Tudor. My Mom passed away very unexpectedly from cancer right before we got pregnant with Tudor so it was extremely emotional for me not to have her there. I know she is looking down on us and smiling. I will do a post on her so you can see what an amazing woman she was.
These were my next favorite solo ones of Aura. We managed to get one with her eyes open! I enlarged these to 11” x 18” to go along either side of the opening blog photo above her crib.
Here are some other favorites, they were all so hard to choose from! But of course, as any mama would say, we love all of them and give me more!
