A Family Day in Newport, Rhode Island
Visiting Newport is a little bit, ok alot, different than before kids! We day tripped from Boston as it’s only 1.5hr South and had a great time!
We started the day with lunch on the infamous lawn at Castle Hill Inn.
Built in1875, it’s quaint architecture and beautiful backdrop of Narragansett Bay, make it the perfect spot to take in true New England Coastal Living at its finest. There are lots of white Adirondack chairs to soak in the over 180 degree views of sailboats in the Bay.
When I was younger, this was the place to be après beach on Sundays. For now, we enjoyed the quite time with family.
They have delish lobster sliders and frozen mudslides…yes I had a half alcoholic one and enjoyed every last drop!

There are also trails you can take off the lawn down to the water for the adventurous. Aura had such a great time and loves flying high in the air. Psst She has her Bloom top from Janie and Jack on with a pair of stretch pants from Zara kids. (linked is a similar pair, the ones Aura has on are no longer available).
Then we headed over to play on the lawns of some the grand mansions of Bellevue Avenue. The Elms Mansion offers a magnificent lawn to explore with the kids. Tudor loves playing in the fountains (see fountain pics) and running around the various gardens.
Being a Deisgner, I love the history behind all these mansions. For the Elms. Note most of our photos are from the gardens as an interior tour seemed a bit ambitious with these two!
There are all kinds of lovely bronze scuptures etc. Tudors outfit is Gapkids shorts and a Jcrew ‘Crewcuts’ white polo.
The Breakers also has a nice lawn for kids. If you have any questions on what to do or where to eat please send me an email at lynn @goldwestvintage.com.
