Visiting the Turks and Caicos with Baby & Toddler
We finally decided to take the plunge and travel as a family of four for our special Holiday getaway in Christmas 2017. We had been been to the Caribbean a lot but never to the Turks and Caicos, and it felt like the perfect place to spend our first big trip away as a family.
It was so nice to support the island and bring tourism after the huge hurricane around this time last year.
We stayed at the Windsong Resort in Kingston, on Grace Bay Beach in the Providenciales on Turks & Caicos and it was so beautiful! We splurged for a king bed, ocean front suite because when else are we gonna get to enjoy that in the Caribbean?! It also had a full kitchen which was definitely an absolute must with a baby and toddler.
Aura was still on formula 5x a day at the time, so having our own space to do that in made it so easy. Whilst Tudor and Nic were down on the beach jumping on the inflatable islands, I could watch them from the deck whilst feeding tiny Aura.
We went snorkelling a few times in the gorgeous clear blue sea, taking turns with the kids off a boat from the reef. Now that I look back at it that was definitely a little ambitious as the boat drives onto the beach to pick you up! I had Aura in the Baby Björn on the boat!
In front of our hotel we snorkeled everyday as there was a coral reef right out front!
We took a cab to the local grocery store to pick up a few essentials (which are just a little different from the mainland!)
We ate at the resort restaurants there most of the time, we didn’t get to explore all that much aside from the venture bravely out to The Gansevoort for dinner. We tried to go to a street festival nearby, but it was just way too crowded, so we ended up at The Gansevoort! We may have been the only ones with baby and toddler, but everyone thought they were super cute because they were all dressed up.
People ask me how I got all these amazing photos, and it’s because every night we would get showered and dressed up and head down to sunset at the beach where there would be tons of professional photographers there to capture the moment. They were all always more than happy to take our photos using my little iPhone, but it was amazing to have basically pro photos every single night! Top tip for if you visit for yourself ;)
All in all it was a super successful first trip away as a family of four, despite the struggles and stresses to actually get our butts out the door and on the plane, it was completely and utterly worth it, and we will no doubt cherish these memories forever!
